Are You a Goal Setter or River Person?

A goal setter identifies the destination, and charts a course to get there. You know where you’re going. You control your rudder to stay on course.

A river person jumps in the water and rides with the tide. You don’t know where you’re going. You surrender and go with the flow.

Goal setters like control.
They want to know where they are and where they’re going at all times.
The juice is in getting there.
The game is about arriving at the destination.

River people prefer surrender.
They like not knowing where they are or where they’re going.
The juice is in what’s around the next bend.
The game is about enjoying the ride.

I’m a river person.
I prefer to jump in and ride with the tide.

What are you?
