Baseball, Business and Life!
GAME POSTPONED DUE TO RAIN.
Rescheduled for Tuesday, April 1.
Today is the final opening day at Yankee Stadium.
Next year, the New York Yankees open a new ballpark.
Yankee Stadium is
a one of a kind sports
venue.
You walk from the crowded urban Bronx streets into a lush, green field of dreams. It’s a magical baseball Mecca in the heart of America’s most frenetic Metropolis.
I have been going to Yankee Stadium since 1963, when my Dad and I watched Mickey Mantle end Game 3 of the 1963 World Series with a monster home run.
I still get chills when I think about that ball soaring right past our noses in the upper deck and disappearing into the right field seats. I was nine years old, and I will never forget that feeling.
I played baseball from age 3 until I retired at 43. I played semi-pro had the great good fortune to try out with the St. Louis Cardinals. I also coached for 10 years. I love the game.
Baseball is a good model for business and life.
* Play YOUR best position.
* Surround yourself with an all-star team!
* Play for the love of the game.
Play #100 from the NEW Game Playbook is…
Strengthen Your Strengths! Do what you do well, better.
If you are playing out of position, you are not playing to your strengths.
Play a position you are best suited to play.
Then play the best you can because…
“How you do anything is how you do EVERYTHING.”
Play #9 from the NEW Game Playbook is…
Assemble Your Team…
Surround Yourself with the Best Players You Can Find!
If you do not surround yourself with a solid team, you can become overwhelmed by the number of things to do and skills to develop. When you do lesser value tasks instead of your highest value tasks, you reduce your value, lower your income and do not play your best game.
Play #87 from the NEW Game Playbook is…
Play for the Love of the Game!
If you do not play for the love of the game, you can still play well but you won’t enjoy the game.
Do all three, you will play well in tough times and win big in boom times.
Today we have a conversation about how to play your best position, add all-stars to your team, and play for the love of the game.
At 4pm today we talked baseball, business and life.
You’re a player.
Today is a great day to play a new game.
