9/11, Mom and a Cosmic Convergence

On December 27, 1995 I started a book called “The Power of Threes.”

Five years later on 01/01/01 I finally wrote an Introduction and assembled the 33 chapters into a Table of Contents.

Nine months later 9/11 rocked the world.
It forever changed life as we know it.
I never wrote the book.

Today, I am reminded once again of the incredible power of threes.

They show up in every game we play.

I live on the first mountain west of New York City, two blocks from a bird’s eye view of the Big Apple. On a clear summer night, the aura of the Manhattan lights shooting off the stars makes your skin tingle.

Those who were there to enjoy the spectacular view on the glistening morning of 9/11/01 had no idea they were eye-witness to the worst daytime nightmare in American history.

For our family, September 11 had major significance before it became 9/11.
It was Mom’s birthday.

Today, 9/11 takes on added significance.

This year, 9/11 coincides with the Jewish New Year 5768, which begins at sundown on 9/12.

Whenever Mom doled out her West Virginia wisdom, she started the sentence with, “They say” as if her words were blessed by a higher authority.

“They say if you look for something hard enough, you will find it.”

I didn’t have to look hard to find the Power of Threes in this week’s Cosmic Convergence.

For me 9/11, Mom and the Jewish New Year converging over 24 hours means being thankful for the blessings of life, loved ones and the chance to begin again.

Whatever else is happening in your world.

You have life.
You have loved ones.
You have the chance today to begin again.

When you forget, remember those who don’t have life, loved ones, or the chance to begin again.

In the rush to do more, make more, have more, and be more, it’s easy to forget the sweetness of life, loved ones and the chance to begin again.

9/11 reminds me to love life.

Mom reminds me to celebrate loved ones.

A New Year reminds me to value every day as a chance to begin again.

These are intrinsic riches beyond measure.

I wish you life, love, and a new beginning.

May you have blessings of health, and plenty of plenty of what matters most.

“It’s Not JUST Business, It’s Personal!”

For me, writing is not just business. It’s personal!

Almost everybody in our area knows somebody who perished on 9/11. My cousin’s brother-in-law was a firefighter, and my high school classmate was a Port Authority Captain. My niece’s husband lost a cousin.

I did a lot of writing after 9/11.
I tried to make sense of it all.

If you are interested, here’s my 9/11 page.

This is not business. It’s personal!
