A Time to Illuminate

“Accentuate the Positive, ‘Illuminate’ the Negative.”
David Corbin, Author of just released book,
Illuminate: Harnessing the Positive Power of Negative Thinking

Happy Jewish New Year, whatever your religion (or none).

“La Shana Tovah.”
A Blessed Year to you.

In the 1960’s, an English singer named Anthony Newley
crooned a popular song,

“Stop the world, I wanna get off.”

Do you ever feel that way?

I had a dream…

I was in business for 30 years, 11,000+ consecutive days,
60,000 hours devoted to serving others. I had an email box
stuffed with hundreds of messages I could never read,
dozens of videos I could never watch, and a “to-do” list
that would never get “to-done.” My brain sizzled 24/7 even
while my body slept.

I woke

up one morning soaked in sweat and screamed:

“Stop the world, I wanna get off!”
So I got off.

I took the summer to go silent, look inside, and be quiet.
I practiced the model:

SOUL, ROLE, GOAL!

I reclaimed my soul.
I reframed my role.
I renamed my goal.

The result, in a word:

Illuminating!

Coincidentally, on August 17 the publishers Wiley & Sons
released my dear friend Dave Corbin’s new book, “Illuminate”
into the bookstores. I encourage you to get “Illuminate” and
add the Illuminate model to your life and business:

I spent 17 days in August in San Diego having illuminating
conversations with Dave, John Assaraf, Brendon Burchard,
Harry Paul, and dozens of others about business, work,
family,

kids, marketing, book publishing, politics, success
and the future.

This is a time of Illumination and Transformation.

What we know is obsolete before we apply it.
What we do changes as we do it.
What we think is outdated before we speak it.
Who we are transforms as we become it.

The game changes before we learn the rules.
The rules change before we write our playbook.
The playing field shifts before we run a play.

I choose to accentuate the positive, and illuminate the negative.
Rather than fake it, fear it, or “fuggetabout” it, I use Dave’s
3-Step Illuminate model:

Face it.
Follow it.
Fix it.

I choose to be adaptable, flexible, open and flowing,
instead of righteous, rigid, closed and withering.

I challenge my notions, beliefs and old game thinking.

I make uncertainty my friend.
I take stock of what I have to give and to share.
I help and serve others and ask for help in return.

I value simplicity and conservation.
I am liberated by not being attached to things.
I am filled with the love I give and get.

I take care of my soul.
I enjoy my role.
I pursue my goal.

Tonight begins the Jewish New Year.
I wish you “La Shana Tovah” a blessed year.

Fill it with plenty o’ plenty of soul, role and goal.

I’m excited to be back in the game.
I am happy to travel the path with you.

I’ll meet you on the field again soon.

My best,
Mitch
